Polar Vortex Mittens
More Polar Vortex sewing:
The fingerless mitts I have been wearing just haven't been warm enough while we suffer through the Polar Vortex this winter.
I used a wool sweater that I had felted when it got tossed into the donation bin, and this online tutorial. Instead of lining with fleece, I used a cotton knit. It sure is a lot quicker to SEW knit mittens than it is to KNIT them!
What a great idea to recycle an old sweater. Did you line the mittens? They look warm and cozy!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I did :-) I used a cotton knit from my stash....the pattern suggest using fleece, but I didn't want a bulky mitten, just a WARM one LOL!
DeleteOh, I could use a pair of these about now! I love the addition of the bright, cheerful button!
ReplyDeleteThey are so warm! I made a pair for my husband to use when he mans the snowblower and he really likes them :-)

ReplyDeleteMitts when I first moved to Chicago. My grandmother gave me an old flannel blanket that I used to line my mitts with. Got me through that first winter!!
The flannel blanket is such a good idea! That's one smart grandma :-)
